Party Bus Road Trip 2020

Monday – Oct 12 – Flew from Missoula to Denver, picked up RV, camped in Evergreen, CO for a couple days

Tuesday – Oct 13 – El Rancho Brewery in Evergreen, CO, hung out with some locals, double-fisting Manhattans and Martinis by the end of the night

First fuel-up ⛽️ $125 got me to half tank

Saturday – Oct 17 – Arrived to Fort Morgan, CO overnight and had to figure out how to get water. In the afternoon, a couple friends, who were on their way back to Montana, stopped by for the first party.

Sunday – Oct 18 – The next day: “Can you guys deliver some tacos and margaritas to the big Airstream bus parked at the Walmart please?”

Monday – Oct 19 – The indicator light said it was time to dump the black and grey tanks; which I had no idea no idea how to do. Nor did I want to pay for the use of a sewer. I found a useful site. I pulled into the Sterling, CO visitor’s center and luckily for me, there was as awesome couple there cleaning up their RV after returning home from a trip to the Western Slope. They were happy to teach me, and they even figured out why my power outlets weren’t working! I pulled into the North Platte, NE Walmart just in time for another supplies run – carpets and such, and my own RV tank hose!

Tuesday & Wednesday – Oct 20 & 21 – More Walmart shopping, and RV cleaning

Gotta get out of North Platte already. I wasn’t even planning to stop here, but I’m so glad I did. I had driven I-80 across Nebraska twice before and didn’t care for the smell of the slaughterhouses. North Platte proved to be a pretty cool place where I got to try some Nebraskan food at Runza – a Nebraskan chain specializing in this fluffy pastry filled with meat, and, onions, and all sorts of delicious combinations of extra fillings. My favorite was the cheeseburger Runza.

They also have the Golden Spike Tower overlooking the largest railway sorting yard in the world.

And the home of Buffalo Bill. Next time I’ll be sure to visit his estate.

Thursday – Oct 22 – Planning to finally drive from Sioux City, IA to Ben’s in Buffalo Center, IA

10/22 to 11/14 – posted up working @ Ben’s in Buffalo Center, Iowa

Saturday – Nov 14 – left Iowa. Spent the night in Austin, MN after getting some help at the AT&T store. Casey stayed several hours late to help me switch back to AT&T since I’ve been having some not so great service with Verizon and my hotspot on the road.

Sunday – Nov 15 – to see the SPAM Museum!!

Monday – Nov 16 – Spent the night at the Olin Park boat launch, right across the lake from the state capitol building. Tried to drive around the downtown a bit as it was a bit cold and windy to rent a bike; not to mention find parking.

Some of the drivers on the highway were not so nice. With one large truck even cutting me off from merging onto the highway, almost forcing me into an immediate exit. It’s big city driving from here on out. Not like what I’ve become used to living in Montana where cars will stop for you to cross the road.

Already missing home, and my dog

Tuesday – Nov 17 – Spent the night at a marina on Lake Michigan in Milwaukee. I had an early morning interview in Denmark… And when I woke up I realized I didn’t have internet. I frantically drove to the nearest Walmart with the GPS telling me I’d arrive 5 minutes before the scheduled meeting time. The curtains were swinging and sliding forward, blocking my side views. Then, as I’m about to turn into the Walmart lot a truck stops in front of me. The guy walks around the back as if checking his vehicle. I open my window and yell, “Hey dude! I’m running late for a job interview!”

“Your steers! Your steers!” he says. I had no idea what he was talking about, then realized sometimes the slide out stairs don’t retract when you close the door.

Anyways, the interview went well. Now, just sitting in a beachside park with a beautiful view of Lake Michigan in Kenosha, WI catching up on some work.

about Walmarts

You have to consider how funny it is that I’ve been hopping from Walmart to Walmart. I set up the camper, open my laptop and I’m already connected to the same Walmart wifi network. When I go inside, it looks just like the previous one.

One might think he never moved at all 🤔
